Eagle –Kickin’ It Back To You/ Come In, It’s All For Free –Pye International 7N 25530 (1970 UK)
Tucked away on the flip side of a pretty good Northern Stomper, Come In It’s All For Free is a cracking late Garage Rocker. It’s quite a straightforward chuggin’ affair until the lead break comes along where it goes all twangy over an underlying semi-Buddy Holly beat. The track gets a bit diffused after that, but the tune rides out fine until its conclusion.
Once again I have little indication of who these guys were. It was originally released in the US on Janus where they had at least one other single, so apart from being American, who knows…

Robin, Eagle also had a U.S. lp out on Janus called "Come under Nancy's tent" from 1970.It may have come out on cd in 2003 also. They were previously called Beacon St Union who had a couple of LP's out in the late 60's.
Thanks for the info...I never knew what happened to the Beacon St. Union...Speed Kills after all
Ha, those 'macho' vocals! SCREAMS 1970! The guitar saves it though - nice Who-isms. Reminds me slightly of Cherokee's 'Girl I've Got News For You.' Do you know that one? It's the guys from the Robbs. Unfortunately, the rest of their stuff is only so-so. They're local heroes so the single turns up everywhere (along with Tin Tin - figure that one out!)
Owen-B on Janus are also worth hearing. Good rocked up high energy boogie with lyrics mostly devoted to the pleasures of pot smoking (I think).
Mmmmm...I actually think the vocals are rather tasteful and gutsy -somewhere between Capital City Rockets and Five Dollar Shoes...Cherokee Girl -Let's be having you!
