Here’s a real obscurity. The band was probably from Ohio as they recorded at Owl Studios, but queries sent have been left unanswered…Also the date is a bit of a mystery. I would like to think mid-70s, but it is likely to be later. Anyhow Marilyn is a raucous rocker with lo-fi New Wave feel albeit with a mighty bite... Fireball is my favourite of the two tracks it has a Raw Power feel melding Garage and Hard Rock ethics - The drums thump, the vocals screech and the guitars ooze filth. A real killer and heavy performance to be cherished…Please I need info on this cracker!!!!

Note it has since been confirmed that the single was released in 1974 -more news soon, but in the meantime feast your eyes on this delightful snap of the band

sure sounds like the same outfit
wow...definitely the same unit...That track is great as well
er...perhaps in all the excitement, I was a bit quick to make a link. However that other Lance single is great and there are still 2 copies left as BINs (cheap) on ebay. Definitely worth picking up...
mind you, Ohio is not a million miles from Iowa in the scheme of things.... parts of the 'melody' in Marilyn are reminiscent of the classic nugget 'in the past' by We The People don't you think
It's just that the songwriting credits don't match A side (M. Kean) B side (M. Soski)...
Any connection to the Lance who featured on the Max's Kansas City comp LP?
Line up there was Fred St John, Dave Browning,Mark Rider, Kim Christi. Their three songs were Runaround Girl, Night Rider and Phone Call.
There's also a single by another Lance from 1979 - Rage / I Don't Like It that appear to be from North Carolina.
Hi
Thanks for the input. There doesn't appear to be a connection between the credited names and the Max's mob. The North Carolina needs further investigation
I am personally related to two people in this band. The band is no longer together but was based entirely out of Ohio. It has nothing to do with any other of the bands that were methioned in earlier comments. How did you get this record? Very exciting to know it actually made it across the seas!
Hi Megan
I am in touch with Matt and Doug and hope to get an interview and document the story of the band sometime soon as well as finding a better condition copy of this 45, which I found on ebay recently. A GREAT 45...
Fireball rocks hard, thanks for that!
Ferkin.
