Rotomagus –Fightin’ Cock/The Sky Turns Red –Butterly BS 007 (1971 France)
Yes there were cool happenings in Rouen before the advent of Les Olivenstein and The Dogs. Hard to believe this is 1971, it’s not just proto Punk but Proto Hardcore for chrissakes!. With enough spite and fiery attitude to make Joan of Arc squeal; Fightin’ Cock is pure flammable high energy. The vocals are nuts...Fight...Cock, he was a fightin’ COCK. The guitar riffs and grinds and approaches a Stooges via Motorhead apocalyptic grandeur in the lead break and finale. Rotomagus were previously on CBS, but reconvened on the small Butterfly label for this incredible release. Thanks to Henry for making me aware of this gem

Amazin! Seems to cut out before the end, though
Full version is now up!
I've heard the awesome A-Side before, it's on that comp of early French Hard Rock/Metal, "Tetes Lourdes", i think it's called.
Never heard the flipside though, any chance you could upload it?
And if i haven't said so before, many thanks for everything you do hee, this is a terrific blog.

Thanks for the comment. I wasn't going to put up the B side as it would dilute the total brilliance of the A side
Then the B-side is not as good as the A-side i take it?
That's a shame as "Fighting Cock" is (as B.O.C. used to say), a "screaming dizbuster", of the highest order.
Thanks,
