Nimbus –Uriah’s On The Move/ Lollypop

Nimbus –Uriah’s On The Move/ Lollypop –Ariola 12238 AT (197? German issue)

Not sure who these guys are, but I presume they were English. Anyhow both sides are highly enjoyable examples of early 70’s Bubblegum Pop. Uriah’s On The Move is a sprightly number with a good full production (by Chris Andrews). The strings and horns are discreet but they add a nice touch. Lollypop is a pure unabashed Bubblegum treat and it’s hard to decide which song should have been the A side. There’s another Nimbus single on Polydor called All For The Love Of Stephen –anyone know if it’s the same band?

"All For The Love Of Stephen" is a Chris Andrews song, so must be the same people. Haven't heard it, though. "Lollypop" is my favourite side of this one, but it's all a really solid single. Nice one.

just picked up a copy of All For The Love Of Stephen here in Vienna whilst on a dj tour and the A Side is ok. kinda ballad-y but the B Side wins.
It's called Let Me Go Home..a cool crunchy rocker with some cool moog/synth bass. i'll try n make a rip of it when i get back to the states.

Hi Alex
Yeah, I picked up a copy a while ago...pic sleeve with non-descript clouds, didn't look like nimbus to me...If I recall both tracks were also written by Chris Andrews...C'mon Alex find some Lederhosen clad Austrian GLAM!

haha how did you know i was wearing
lederhosen?
if ever in Vienna there are 2 shops that have good second digging:
Teuchtler and Scout Records, both around the corner from each other.
i found a copy of Ning's Machine, another copy of Tracey Dean's Moonshiner (killer Moroder rocker),some kooky guy named Bruno Ferrari and a b-side track called Sweet Decadence that's super cabaret glam. oh and a pic sleeve of Light Fantastic's Take Me Shake Me. wow. those guys should not be in those outfits! i love the glam that comes from around here..there's always some mustached guy prog-ging it all up look-wise!

Remember seeing a band called Nimbus sing All for the love of Steven at the West Norfolk Technical College at the age of 15 in 1972

Yes, it is the same band, yes, they are English and yes, they did play at King's Lynn Tech in '72 (we were supporting Stackridge if my memory serves me correctly).
