Also have pics of Twister - how do I put a pic up on here.
I was married to Marty Barclay, lead guitarist of Twister. He was still playing music & teaching guitar right up until he died from a massive heart attack (2 years ago today). So happy to have found this site - it has made a LOT of people happy this week. Holy Smoke/Midnite was the first single, I've actually got a copy somewhere and a dub off the master tape on reel to reel. It's kind of a cross between Perth band Supernaut and Melbourne's own Taste (our very own Queen type glam band, not Rory Gallagher's lot))

I dunno about the record being "anathema" to Melbourne collectors, I doubt whether too many collectors have ever seen it.

Seems unlikely that a Brisbane glam band would have much distribution down here in the days of Bjelke Peterson... I mean, it came out at the same time as The Saints, and it was tricky enough to get their records down here

I doubt whether many copies were ever found in Melbourne...despite it being on RCA records

I got a battered copy of it at Rockin Horse record shop in Brisbane in the 80's...with a job lot singles by Finch, Avalanche, Stars and King Harvest, none of which had covers and were all worse for wear and all were highly unfashionable at the time,,,I've never ever seen a copy of it down here in Melbourne, and I had no idea there was a second single at all

I am thrilled that you posted it, and you have a great blog...I love that glam rock stuff!!..youre talking 'bout my generation!!!

Big Ern xxxAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26721642.post-79039729381268012982010-02-08T00:56:15.022+00:002010-02-08T00:56:15.022+00:00Eagle Rock?! Holy Smoke/Midnight came out in January while Getting Nowhere Fast was released in November and just like the title unfairly did nothing for them and led to their demise soon after. However, Twister's brilliant bass playing/songwriting vocalist Geoff Turner joined The Radiators in '78 in which he's still active to this day! In fact, due to a tour of Australia that they were on last year with The Sweet which was supposed to come to Melbourne before they left/were kicked off, I'd been on a huge Rads nostalgia trip and had been searching for the two Twister singles which seem to be anathema amongst Melbourne collectors. Anyway, I was rapt to hear the two Twister tracks which aren't entirely removed from the new wave pop rock of the first four albums they put out in the early to mid 80s. Great work Robin! Keep your eyes peeled for that first single.fatalmichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12487773121588448016noreply@blogger.com
